Chinese herbal therapy being used in Cleveland hospitals

In Cleveland the authorities have made changes to the state laws which have allowed qualified herbal therapists to prescribe Chinese herbal therapists to prescribe, Chinese herbal blends and formulas within a clinic environment.

Before it was necessary to travel beyond state lines for herbal treatment. The medical board of Ohio regulated Chinese medicine early last year, as a result the university hospital and the Cleveland Clinic have hired a qualified acupuncturist who is also a herbalist. Jamie Starkey is the head acupuncturist at the center.

He said that a lot of patients have been looking for Chinese herbs and many physicians have contacted us and asked us if we use Chinese herbs.

Instead of guessing what kind of herbal treatment patients are taking and where they purchased it, we can now chart all the things that patients are taking as well as looking for any interactions with other herbs and drugs.

This is another sign that Chinese medicine is being taking seriously around the world.

This can only be a good thing for us patients. I have also had people asking me about where they can get certain Chinese herbs and formulas.

Furthermore people have asked me where they can get certain Japanese herbs and Korean herbs, so the demand is certainly out there.
